About Women's Preview weekend

Women's Preview Weekend (WPW) at Virginia Tech welcomes admitted young women to the College of Engineering, offering a firsthand experience of campus life. Prospective students connect with current students and faculty, gaining insights into the College of Engineering. Each participant is matched with a Hypatia program freshman host, providing an immersive student perspective.

Throughout the weekend, attendees meet women engineers, interact with professors, and explore Virginia Tech's Engineering majors. The stay includes accommodation in Hoge Hall, where guests reside with female undergraduate engineering students from the Hypatia living-learning community. This event aims to help young women make informed decisions about joining Virginia Tech and the College of Engineering.

Some of the activities are:

1.) Dinner with Faculty/Graduate Students & Student Panel

- Join faculty and graduate students for an informative dinner at Lane Stadium, creating a platform for prospective students to connect with mentors. Afterward, attend a Student Panel offering firsthand perspectives on student life and the College of Engineering.

2.) Small Group Lab Tours

- In small groups, participants will tour the interactive side of the College of Engineering, gaining a tangible sense of the hands-on experiences that await them in their chosen major.

3.) Student Organization Fair

- Explore a wide array of extracurricular possibilities at the 2nd-floor lounge, where the Student Organization Fair showcases the diverse student groups and clubs at Virginia Tech.
